Cooked breakfasts and freshly made baguettes are now on the menu at Space Park Leicester’s café, following the arrival of a new catering company.
The Blue Marble café is now run by Edith James Catering and its re-vamped menu includes toasted sandwiches and fresh sandwiches for visitors looking for an appetising light bite.
Other changes include the new opening times of 9am to 4pm, with hot drinks served from 8.30am, along with seasonal menu specials and promotional offers. To reduce waste and support Space Park Leicester’s environmental initiatives, disposable packaging and utensils have been replaced with cutlery and crockery.
The catering team will also offer live cooking for events, including a mac and cheese bar and an American bar.
Co-owner of Edith James Catering David Joy has more than 30 years’ experience in the food industry and has cooked for heads of state and stars from the worlds of entertainment and sports.
He said: “We are delighted to have been given this opportunity at the Blue Marble café, which is a popular spot at the heart of Space Park Leicester and is the perfect place to relax and re-fuel, or pick up a quick hot drink and something tasty on the go.
“Our promise to our customers is that we offer a service that goes the extra mile.”

The Blue Marble café, which offers halal, vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free hot and cold options, is open to all staff, partners and visitors, along with staff working at Space City organisations upon presentation of a Space City diners pass or National Space Centre ID card. Space City Diners passes are suitable for anyone working at DOCK Leicester and are available for free from the National Space Centre Staff entrance upon proof of employment.
Edith James Catering also runs the café at the Attenborough Arts Centre and the Staff and Postgraduate Restaurant in the Charles Wilson Building on Main campus. The team will also take on all catering for events held at Space Park Leicester.
