Cosmic Coffee to launch for Midlands’ space companies

An out of this world networking event is being launched soon for the Midlands’ growing space community.

The region is one of the world’s fastest growing space clusters and, to help the industry’s businesses continue to expand and develop, a free new monthly networking event is being launched in Leicester called Cosmic Coffee.

The innovative event is being sponsored and hosted by the European Space Agency Business Incubation Centre (ESA BIC) at the world-leading science and innovation hub, Space Park Leicester.

Nicola Musgrove, Business Development Manager for ESA BIC (UK) at Leicester said: “Cosmic Coffee will provide an exciting new platform for those working in and around the space community in the Midlands.

“It will give firms the chance to come together on a relatively informal basis to share ideas, receive updates about what is going on in and around the space community and to get to know other experts working in this exciting and expanding sector.

“Attendees will be able to make 60 second pitches at Cosmic Coffee to explain what they are working on and to encourage others to collaborate with them.

“The ESA Business Incubation Centre is thrilled to sponsor the event and hope it will lead to inspiring new space technology SMEs to setup their business in this supportive and expanding community.”

Vinay Patel, Commercial Manager at Space Park Leicester added: “Cosmic Coffee is an exciting opportunity to find out how the Space Park Leicester community can support your business’ growth and to see new and exciting research activities taking place. This brand new free event offers a great way to meet likeminded members of the space and space-enabled community informally over coffee.”

Cosmic Coffee will take place at the beginning of each month regularly from September but the launch event will take place from 2pm to 3pm on Friday, July 1.

Priority access will be given to those actively working in the space industry and organisations looking to commercialise a space technology.
