Space Park Leicester organisations unite to lead UK Earth Observation Conference 2026

Earth observation experts based at Space Park Leicester are helping bring together the UK’s leading researchers, innovators and policymakers for the UK Earth Observation Conference 2026 (UKEO 2026) this autumn.
Primarily organised by the National Centre for Earth Observation (NCEO), with support from the Centre for Earth Observation Instrumentation (CEOI) and RSPSoc remote sensing & photogrammetry society, all three organisations will be actively involved in promoting and participating in the conference, reinforcing the University of Leicester’s position as a hub for space-enabled research and innovation in the UK.
Running from 15–17 September 2026 at the University of Warwick, the conference will showcase the latest developments in Earth observation science, applications and innovation, while creating opportunities for collaboration across academia, industry and the public sector.
UKEO 2026 will provide a national platform for experts to exchange ideas, explore emerging technologies and discuss how Earth observation data is helping address major global challenges, including climate change, environmental monitoring, resilience and sustainable development. The conference is expected to attract leading researchers, technology innovators, policymakers and businesses from across the UK’s rapidly growing space and geospatial sectors.

Dr Harjinder Sembhi, of Space Park Leicester and the University of Leicester’s School of Physics and Astronomy, said:
“UKEO 2026 represents a fantastic opportunity to bring together the UK Earth observation community to share knowledge, strengthen partnerships and showcase the innovation taking place across the sector.
“Having three organisations based at Space Park Leicester helping to drive the conference forward demonstrates the strength of the collaborative ecosystem we are building in Leicester and its growing influence within the UK space sector.”
Delegates attending the conference will have the opportunity to engage with leading experts from across the Earth observation ecosystem, discover cutting-edge research, tools and applications, and network with colleagues from academia, industry and the public sector.
The event will also provide an important forum for discussions on the future direction of Earth observation in the UK and the role EO technologies can play in supporting national and global priorities.
