EarthSense named in PwC NetZero Future 50

EarthSense, a University of Leicester spinout company on a mission to tackle air pollution through cutting-edge data and sensor technology, has been named in the PwC NetZero Future 50—a high-profile showcase of the UK’s most pioneering climate tech businesses.

The company, which is headquartered at Space Park Leicester, has been recognised for its significant impact in the fight against air pollution and its contribution to the UK’s net zero ambitions.

Launched by PwC UK, the NetZero Future 50 list highlights the most innovative companies across the climate tech spectrum, spanning areas such as energy, carbon removal, sustainable transport, circular economy and nature-based solutions.

The list celebrates businesses that are not only creating game-changing technologies but are also scaling rapidly and attracting investment, helping to drive the UK’s leadership in the global climate tech economy.

Tom Hall, CEO of EarthSense, said: “Being recognised in PwC’s Net Zero Future50 is a testament to our mission to make air-quality data accessible and actionable.

“Air pollution is often invisible, but with our technology, we bring it into focus, enabling smarter decisions that lead to tangible environmental improvements. By turning complex data into clear insights, we help our partners take meaningful steps towards a sustainable future.

“PwC’s recognition affirms our belief that clean air is a cornerstone of a sustainable future. We’re proud to stand alongside other purpose-led innovators who are translating ambition into action.”

EarthSense was selected for its comprehensive suite of air quality monitoring solutions, including the Zephyr®—a compact, real-time air quality sensor—and MappAir®, a high-resolution model that visualises pollution levels using data from satellites, sensor networks and other sources.

These innovations have made EarthSense a go-to provider for city planners, environmental researchers, and organisations across both the public and private sectors. The firm’s intuitive web platform, MyAir®, further enables users to view, analyse, and download air quality data in one place, supporting evidence-based decisions around environmental health and policy.

EarthSense’s expansion into Space Park Leicester in 2021 marked a pivotal moment in the company’s growth, allowing it to scale its team and benefit from collaborative opportunities with fellow innovators in the region’s thriving tech ecosystem.

William Wells, Director of Commercialisation and Knowledge Exchange at Space Park Leicester said: “Space Park Leicester was established as a catalyst for breakthrough research and commercial success in the space and environmental sectors.

“EarthSense’s inclusion in the NetZero Future 50 is not only a recognition of their tremendous progress but also a testament to the collaborative innovation fostered at our site. We’re immensely proud to support companies that are driving change at a national and global level.

“As global urgency to achieve net zero targets intensifies, EarthSense continues to demonstrate how research-driven innovation can deliver real-world impact in the climate technology landscape.”

The recognition from PwC is the latest in a series of accolades for EarthSense. In 2021, the company was awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Innovation in honour of its rapid growth and groundbreaking contributions to air quality science.ernational Bilateral Fund and NASA’s Radioisotope Power System Program.
