Space Park Leicester launches exciting space mission programme
An exciting programme that shows what it takes to design, build, launch and operate a space mission will be launched at Space Park Leicester in March.
University of Leicester experts with more than six decades of experience of leading and developing space missions have created a professional development programme called ‘The Executive Guide to Space’ as part of Space Park Leicester’s wider CPD Space Missions programme.
It will be delivered in Space Park Leicester’s state-of-the-art facilities and provide participants with a clear understanding of the origins and applications of space missions, the national and international factors which drive activities in space, and a working knowledge of the science and engineering required for spaceflight and space missions.
Space Park Leicester Skills Development Lead Josh Barker said: “The team leading this programme has worked on the design, operation and analysis of many of the 100-plus space missions that the University of Leicester has been involved in.
“It is designed for technical and non-technical professionals, including individuals and organisations which are moving, or planning to move, into the space sector.
“It will also be of great benefit to organisations that want to understand how to successfully produce and deploy products in space and people who are looking to rapidly upskill for difficult-to-recruit roles such as systems engineering and spacecraft operations.”
The University of Leicester has worked with NASA, the European Space Agency (ESA), the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and a wide range of international industry and academic partners on a variety of major space missions, including the James Webb Space Telescope, JUICE, BepiColombo, and Earth Observation missions.
Its ‘Executive Guide to Space’ programme is ideal for a variety of technical and non-technical professionals, including project managers, CEOs, analysts, procurement specialists, space policy advisers, marketers, science communities, technology transfer specialists and legal and financial teams.
The programme has no formal entry requirements and will take place from Tuesday, March 24, to Thursday, March 26. An early bird discount is available until the end of February.
